At any given time, there are up to a dozen Ph.D. dissertations underway in Russian, East European and Eurasian studies across the campus on topics as varied as anthropological studies of migration in Central Asia, the architectural history of Russian Constructivism, the art history of Soviet Conceptualism, and the history of the Second World War in Belarus, to name just a few.

Each year REEES awards a fellowship to an incoming graduate student working on the area in any department; it is in addition to the fellowships that the departments themselves award. The fellowship covers the entire period of study — either four or five years — depending on the student’s academic department.
