Bio/research interests: My research centers on the Sino-Russian border region. I am especially interested in how interpersonal relations along the Sino-Russian border reflect, shape, and contradict Sino-Russian bilateral relations.
Harshbarger is concentrating in history and is also pursuing three minors: in history and the practice of diplomacy; Near Eastern studies; and Russian, East European and Eurasian studies.

Research Interests: My research interests include Russia/Eurasia and East Asia. I also like studying authoritarian politics and how technology is used by these regimes.

Thesis Title: Trends in Democratic Attitudes in Eastern Europe: How Effective has U.S. Foreign Policy Been and Where Should It Go?
Research Interests: I am interested in the political development of Eastern Europe, particularly former Soviet countries, and from the turn of the 20th century to the modern day. I am particularly interested in the development and implementation of democratic institutions in the government as well as trends towards or against democratic values among the general populations, especially in Russia and Ukraine.
